Location-based Information Services

Service Outline

INTAGE offers data services using location information from mobile phone base stations of NTT DOCOMO smartphone users who have given prior consent. Two services are available: one that uses the log data of individual devices, and one that uses population estimates based on this data.

１）Koko-Research

Respondents for questionnaire distribution are targeted based on log data indicating who was present at a specific location and when, using the location information from mobile phone base stations of NTT DOCOMO smartphone users who have given prior consent. This allows us to support the planning of effective outdoor advertising campaigns, events, tourist spots and visitor attractions, using member attribute information that includes approximately 1,800 categories of data as well as behavior log-based “geosegment attributes” that are assigned for a certain period of time.

２）Mobile Kukan Toukei

Population estimates created using base station data show the movement of people, including information on what types of people moved and when, how much, and how far they moved, delivering support that is based on the real-life actions of consumers on a day-to-day basis, for everything from promotions to disaster-prevention planning.

Characteristics of Location-based Information Services

People who were definitely in the area at the time can be surveyed.

With Koko-Research, questionnaires can be sent out to people who were definitely in a certain area at a certain time. In addition, survey respondents can be categorized according to behavioral patterns such as frequency of visits to the area and the day of the week and/or time of day they visit, so that you can ascertain behavior-based differences in attitudes. Moreover, Mobile Kukan Toukei data (see below) can be used as sample population figures to make estimates on overall area trends.

You can gain a detailed understanding of the flow of people, including foreign visitors, in Japan.

Mobile Kukan Toukei is statistical data that shows the population distribution by day of the week and time of day for both the domestic population and foreign visitors to Japan, broken down into mesh units. You can check, for example, the population distribution by time of day for each gender, age group and country, or ascertain where people in a particular location are coming from.
